Sand clung to their toes filling all the litle crevises

On Wednesday we took a day trip to the beach.

Our family from Mexico is here for just three more days and we have been trying to fit in a few more of  the things we love about Oregon before they leave. A trip to the beach was a must on our list.

A trip to the beach means about a 2 hour drive for us. The drive felt long but we were rewarded with gorgeous blue sky's and balmy temperatures.

The girls were ecstatic when we reached the beach.

There were kites soaring high in the blue sky.

Little tide pools, perfect for Kake.

Foaming waves relentlessly chasing their toes.

A friendly, frisky puppy to chase.

Warm salt water taffy- licorice, peanut butter and chocolate, cinnamon, peppermint, banana and lime.

A life guard station. *Can you see the second life guard doing push ups on the beach? So funny I didn't notice until  I was editing my pictures.

Last week Eduardo and Camila were in New York, this week the Oregon Coast. Camila is lucky to have a father who takes her on adventures and truly loves spending time with her. Eduardo is lucky to have a daughter who is sweet and kind and at age 14 still loves to spend time with her dad.

Before we left a scratched a note in the sand for my love.

Nine years ago he and I were here at this same beach with two of our good friends.

We were young. Free of cares, and responsibilities. Our love was just starting to blossom.

The last nine years we have learned and grown and mellowed together.

We have so much ahead of us. So may great adventures and life.

For now I am just happy that it is Friday and we get to spend a long weekend together!

Te quiero mucho mi amor!

I am thankful for vibrant late summer flowers.

Cool nights.

Perfect for dinner outside with family and friends.

Cozy sweaters.

Bonfires and twinkly lights.

Driving

I do a lot of driving for work.

I love this.

Sometimes the girls come with me and sometimes I drive alone, early in the morning before they are awake.

When the girls are with me we sing, and talk. The ride is filled with noise. Chatter.

When I drive alone sometimes I listen to the radio and sometimes I drive in silence.

In the silence my mind roams. My eyes roam.

There are many beautiful things in our little part of the world. Some man made. Many not. It is hard not to be continually pulling over the car to snap pictures.

Here are a few from a recent afternoon drive.

P. T. F. C.- WHEN I ROOT, I ROOT FOR THE TIMBERS!

The atmosphere at a Portland Timbers game is nothing less than high energy.

The girls both love going to the games.

They love the singing, and chanting and flag waiving of the Timbers Army and when the army starts to chant, sing and stomp the roar resounds in your feet and fills your ears.

We stayed out way past the girls bedtime and they were little troopers, soaking up every minute of the noisy exuberance.

They love the cheers- Ximena especially. PTFC stands for Portland Timbers Football Club. When Ximena sings the chant she sings "PTNC".

They love the popcorn. They munched on a bag of crunchy, salty, sweet popcorn through out the WHOLE game.

Final score Timbers 2 opponents 1.

It was a good night.

We ended the night with pink box of doughnuts.

The last days of summer are here. I can feel it in the morning and late afternoon.

The air has adopted a certain crispness. The grass crunches under our feet as we walk.

We stopped by the  farmers market on Wednesday afternoon to grab some fruit for the week

The peaches are huge, juicy and sweet.

The figs, oh the figs, plump and bursting with flavor.

The little melons are full of sweet goodness.

I picked out a pint of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries for Kami. The strawberries are small and intensly sweet this time of year. Kami is my berry girl, she like me cannot get enough of them.

We came home and picked zucchini, kale, basil and rosemary from the garden. I made a pizza dough from this recipe and we topped it with off with fresh mozzarella and shaved parmesan.

The pizza came out from the oven hot and crispy.

We scarfed it down on the patio outside.

Summer has been good to us.
