As most of these occasions occur this started in the same way. A frantic phone call from my mom saying the apples needed to be picked NOW!
We started out in the orchard picking apples.
My Dad is the connoisseur of the cider and likes to blend a variety of different apples along with pears for best flavor.
The sun was warm and hot on our backs.
The cows ambled over to were we were picking to get a closer look. Ximena obliged their curiosity by tossing apples in their direction.
Making apple cider is hard work, but fun and fairly quickly quite rewarding.
Everyone played a part: picking, rinsing, cutting, feeding, cranking and crushing.
Even baby Piper played her part, watching from the sidelines looking cute.
We swatted at yellow jackets.
Then we filtered, then poured and sipped.
By the end of the day we were sticky!
Both girls fell asleep in the car on the way home.
