they bit into fuzzy peaches

Monday, September 3, 2012

I set up the sprinkler in the yard and as I type I can hear the soft swish, swish, swish of the sprinkler hitting the plants in its rotation.

The past two days have been mellow.

I left the house once on a food run.

The rest of the time has been spent napping, indoors and out. Playing bingo on the floor. Eating yummy food and doing little of anything.

The past week was fun but busy and by the end I was exhausted and my mood was beginning to resemble a young toddler who missed a nap.

On Friday we picked peaches.

I was determined to do it before the last peach fell and we barely made it. There were more peaches on the ground under the trees than on the trees. The ones left were sweet and dripping with juice when cut into.

I have a tray of peaches cut into thick slices freezing for smoothies.

There is a pot of peaches stewing on the stove aspiring to be dark peach butter.

Eduardo and Camila left us and went back home. We planned to make peach jam to send back with them but ran out of time.

Next time.

For now we will savour the rest of the peaches and remember all the good times we had.
